The preliminary GenAI Divide: State of AI in Business 2025 report describes a sharp gap between adoption and measurable financial impact. Its executive summary reports 95% of organisations getting zero return, alongside a small minority of integrated pilots delivering substantial value.
The research covered January–June 2025: 300+ publicly disclosed initiatives, interviews with 52 organisations and surveys of 153 senior leaders. These early findings are not a representative failure rate for every AI implementation. Production adoption and measurable P&L impact are different measures.
